Wall of Thesis

Well, here it finally is, my senior thesis completed! The Senior Illustration Show last Friday was awesome, I had a lot of fun talking to everyone and getting to see all of my classmate's work. Pretty kickass stuff all around.

A lot of these I've already posted on here, in a finished state or not, but a lot of them I've tried to hold back on posting. I still have a couple I need to resize and put up here, photoshop is being very fickle at the moment...

(Trying to think of a cool name for this) Forest

Environment I (sorta almost) finished today, I think this is my favorite color palette. It's in the same area as the Forest God piece. My idea for this place is a swampy, gooey unnatural mossy creek. For some reason I think moss and lichen are pretty damn cool, so there's gonna be more of that going on in this.

Last Man Standing + Thesis WIPs

I entered the Last Man Standing competition over at conceptart.org, ( www.lastmanart.com ) and since the deadline is this Saturday I figure I can go ahead and post my entry up. I just have a lil' bit of noodling on it that I've been putting off, like the statue in the background. Oh yeah, the theme is 'Underneath It All'. I'm thinking that people will be going with more serious topics and not something as goofy as this...

My thesis is going to involve a world of my creation and the creatures, people, and locations that make it up. I guess this is a preview of some of the creatures and environments, they're mostly work in progresses.

Golden Compass

Here's an illustration of Lyra, Iorek, and Pantailamon from one of my favorite books, The Golden Compass. I pretty much wanted to get my image of them out of my head before I see the movie. (In the book the compass didn't really have a bright glow like that, but I'm just having fun with it).

COW 100

So this is my entry for the 100th Creature of the Week activity (COW) over at conceptart.org. http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showth ... p?t=106442 . Basically they had 30 categories (some of them really cheesy), you pick 10 of them and do 10 images in each category, and the contest lasted a month. It was a lot of fun/work/fun work, and it's a relief to be done to tell you the truth.

Comic WIP

Started as an art test and continued as a project, this is getting to be pretty fun...I wish I'd written some dialogue though. I'm definitely learning a lot from this, and it'd be fun to flesh something like this all the way out. These are all WIPs, except for page 3.

N-Space Internship

So this summer I interned at N-Space, a game developer in Orlando. I worked on some fun stuff including 2 unannounced Wii titles, as well as Star Wars: The Force Unleashed for the DS (!!!). It was an awesome super good learning experience, and I met some really cool people there too. Since most of the stuff I did was under NDA, they were kind enough to give me a couple of assignments that I'd be able to leave with and put in my portfolio. There was a character design /ortho one, and an environment design, as well as a sort of blueprint for how my hill camo castle fortress would unfold etc. Yep.

Sequential page+sewer croc

I was asked if I had any sequential work, (I hadn't) so this happened. I guess it's sort of a Hansel and Gretel/troll under the bridge/Black Annis cliche kind of story. The last panel is kind of unresolved...
Also, a goofy lil sewer croc. He's a friendly guy for serious.

Nuckelavee

The Nuckelavee, a horrible skinless, black veined horse/man hybrid, is a creature from Scottish folklore. I'm planning on painting him in full later, so I guess this is sort of a preview. The colors may look a little washed out on your monitor, I think mine pumps up the gamma or something. Here's some info on him here .

Murdoc

Fun lil project, I chose the evil, satanic ,bass-playin' Murdoc of Gorillaz fame for a celebrity portrait assignment. Slowly but surely I think I'm managing to work faster...hehe, what a weird statement that is, huh?

This is also sort of a reminder for myself to write a big ass entry on my San Francisco experience sooner or later...
